Truth is the worst. Avoid it all costs.

Being 100% truthful is an extreme way to live. This is why most of us don’t do it. Nature is a bell curve in which moderation is the most common path. Full honesty is at one extreme of nature’s bell curve. Few do it. Why? Because it is a gamble. If you adhere to full truth, you are rolling the dice. You have one of two mind sets: (a) you’re really hoping it goes well for you, that people will respect you for sticking by your principle, regardless of how ugly the consequences are of your truly noble principle, and people will continue to give you what you need, including love and a paycheque, or (b) you couldn’t give less of a damn, because truth is higher than even you, so you literally and laudably don’t care what happens to you as a result of your complete honesty; you are only one human, and truth is an eternal virtue that transcends time and space; you are more than willing to sacrifice yourself to that noblest of paths.

As far as I can tell, people who truly, no-excuses, no-deviation adhere to truth above all else end up successful. This is probably because I know of only two such people: Henry Miller and Charles Bukowski. If you know of others, please educate me. I’d love to be wrong about all this.

These two people wrote despicable stuff. Why? Not because they wanted to be evil; no, they just wanted to be honest. They just saw dishonesty as wrong. I mean, truth IS horrible, ugly, savage, disgusting stuff. It is truly nasty. In my opinion, full truth is antithetical to civilisation. It is only by concealing or ignoring certain truths that we have climbed this high. By tacit, near-unanimous agreement, we give up truth to enjoy civility. If your neighbour came over for coffee and told you what he or she truly thinks of you and your spouse and your children… Science help you. And them.

Consequence first descends on the truth-teller; hopefully, after their execution, we can move on without further loss of life. HOPEFULLY. But if the truth in question is too gruesome, if it points to anyone else, then the black hole of that truth may suck in others, because truth is the ultimate gravity. Nothing causes more than truth. Nothing causes more events, more change, more reaction, more outcry, more resentment, more progress, more general happening. It seems like the ultimate irony that truth is poison to the status quo. Just think about it: you’ll get there if you can think truthfully enough. If you can’t THINK truthfully enough, then consider what violence has been done to your mind and who did that violence. Then, if you care about any human virtue at all, end it there and continue with the lies you’ve been fed.

Truth is primal. Feral. Horrible. For example, if you eat meat, then you hate truth. Just think about it. You can’t think about it, can you? It’s too awful. Too inhumane. You resist my argument? Plunge yourself into truth. Commit to it. Evangelize about it. If you truly, TRULY want truth, don’t go to just one slaughterhouse. Go to as many slaughterhouses as will have you. Go to them physically in person. Take a deep breath of the truly majestic amount of blood and feces there. How committed to truth are you? VERY committed? Then you’ll have no problem bringing your children to watch the slaughters, to breathe the feces.

No civilized parent would ever, EVER expose their children to that. Why? Because we protect our children from threats to their well-being, mental or physical. The intelligent among us get them vaccinated to protect them from the physical threat of disease. We get babysitters to protect them from physical self-destruction while we take an absolutely essential break from the truth of parenthood. And we shield them from slaughterhouses because that truth is a threat to their mental well-being. So, if we protect children from truth, then truth must be a threat, right? So, inarguably, our civilization is based on denial of the truth. We PROTECT our young from the truth. Nobody protects anyone from anything that isn’t a threat. Truth = threat. Full stop.

(No, I’m not evangelizing for plant-based diets; I ate meat for decades, and it tastes bloody good, pun intended.)

Animals are true; it is only by falsity that we have dominated them. It’s why we love dogs SO DAMN MUCH. Nobody is truer than a dog. Well, nobody is truer than any animal, except perhaps advanced primate animals who are basically human for the purpose of this exploration. We just love dogs the most because their truth is the most pro-us. Some of us love cats because cat-lovers admit the truth that we’re not worthy of a pet’s worship. Fascinating, fascinating stuff. And cats smell so nice. Dogs? Nope. More truth…

If animals live by full truth, and we dominate them, well… sorry animals, you chose the losing path.

Go ahead, tell your spouse or your children full truth. See? Chaos. Anarchy. Destruction. Death.

Now think about why religion hates truth. Religion is control and order. Truth is primal, feral, brutal chaos. Truth resists control. Truth just is. Everybody—EVERYBODY—fears truth in one form or another.

Every single one of us has a different truth-threshold. And the question is not just a quantity of truth; no, the quality of each truth is also a problem. Ask yourself why people voted Trump, why they attacked the capitol of the precious nation that shaped them. Ask yourself why people deny vaccines. Why people go to church and get on their knees and chant and throw virgins into volcanoes. Why people don’t overcome addiction. Why you (and I) can’t lose weight. Why false diet products still make money.

Because the truth sucks, that’s why. Again, tell your kid the truth. You know what? Forget your kid. Children are special, weak, in need of protection up to adulthood. So tell your spouse the truth. Hey, no, shut up, don’t argue with me. You know what the truth is; you know whether you’re telling your spouse the truth, so you know whether I’m right. And, of course, don’t delude yourself: truth is what you think, not just what you do. What do you fantasize about? Truth = divorce.

Truth is garbage. Truth is what animals shed to evolve into humans. Think about censorship. Censorship isn’t about whether someone’s statement is true; it’s about whether they said it to begin with. The problem isn’t whether racists are correct. We all know they aren’t. The problem is whether there ARE racists at all.

Someone spray-paints some idiotic anti-Muslim garbage. They get caught. They get found guilty of hate crime. The crime isn’t whether they’re right. That’s laughable. No court wants to hear about whether Muslims actually should “go home” or burn or whatever idiocy. There’s widespread consensus that that’s stupidity. So, if we all know that shit is stupid, then why prosecute it? The answer: because we want to protect society from the fact that society even has racists in it to begin with. THAT’s what we want to stomp out. We need to deny the truth of the fact that some of us are horrible, despicable concrete boots pulling humanity down into murky suffocating depths. I mean, can you imagine society thinking “Well, I mean, Muslims really should go home, but we don’t want to admit the truth of the fact that Muslims should go home, so that’s why we prosecute hate crimes”? LOL. No, nobody thinks that. What we think is “Ugh, it’s so embarrassing that we have such fundamentally and humiliatingly stupid people as part of society, we need to stomp that shit out. I mean, do YOU want to admit that we have people that stupid? I don’t! Let’s criminalize them so we don’t have so many of them popping up and reminding us that we haven’t yet solved the problem of THEM. Blech.”

Racists are like cancer. But we can’t prosecute cancer.

Think about morons who defend the stupid garbage they say with “Well it’s true!” Some weirdo high school student wears a purple Mohawk to school, and some bigot raised by a closeted-gay father yells “Freak!” Do we argue about whether the punk kid is actually, indeed a freak? No, because nobody cares about whether we have freaks. What we care about is whether we have bigots. Stomp THEM out. The truth is that, despite our best efforts, we have morons, we have bigots, we have a society that has not succeeded yet in eliminating THEM. Ugh, it’s embarrassing. They’re literally society’s shame. I know I’M ashamed of them. They’re subhuman, yet we still have to respect their constitutional rights blah blah blah.

Truth just sucks. Actually, I don’t want to discourage sucking as a general principle, because—we all know it—sucking makes people happier and society better. So truth is just bad. Nobody wants it, not in full measure. Courts want to know whether a person did the illegal thing and whether they meant to do it, but that’s pretty much the end of it.

Society really, REALLY doesn’t want to know if you lust after your neighbour or your neighbour’s daughter. And science save you if you lust after your neighbour’s son.

Truth. Is. Bad.

Even if nobody gets hurt, truth is the worst. Think about this: you’ve been seeing the same male gynecologist for decades. There has never been a problem. Good service; good medical advice; nothing inappropriate; a truly excellent physician. Then, after decades, you find out that he has been deriving sexual pleasure from his patient-doctor interactions with you. Absolutely nothing has changed. All of the decades of examinations and medical help that you had zero problem with at all remain the same. But suddenly now, knowing the truth, that most horrible of demons, you realize that this whole time, he has been victimizing you, he has been harming you, hurting you. By his thoughts. Thoughts that you knew nothing about. His actions suddenly change from helpful and medical to hurtful and harmful.

What caused this change? Truth caused it. If you had never known about his inner thoughts, you would never have had any problem at all with his medical service to you.

Your friends and family urge you to lodge a complaint with the College of Physicians and Surgeons, now that we all know he had these thoughts while he worked. Suddenly you think: I’ll have to find a new OBGYN. And that OBGYN may outwardly do things I don’t like, worse than the first one. I could end up with a new OBGYN who makes me feel unsafe. And I never felt unsafe with my current OBGYN. But those thoughts he had… Now I’ll have to question the THOUGHTS of any OBGYN I see. Why do I have this paranoia now? Because of the truth. The truth of that previous doctor’s thoughts. But it’s not just THAT doctor now. I’ll be afraid of any doctor now. Why? Because of the truth of my OWN thoughts. Forget whether that first doctor was guilty of thought crime; now I have true fear of my own. I could just ignore my fear and see another OBGYN. But I’d be denying the truth of my feelings. If that new doctor wanted to know the truth of my feelings about him, I’d have to say that I truly think fearful thoughts about what he is truly thinking and feeling while he touches me and looks at me. I should just get a female OBGYN. But what if SHE has sexual thoughts about me? I don’t want some sinful demonic homosexual dyke doctor thinking perverted inappropriate thoughts about me while my legs are spread.

The truth: you don’t want it. You’ll never be free of the fact that the truth is there, polluting your life, contaminating your ideal existence with disgusting reality.

Nobody wants the truth, especially you. And certainly me. Think about that, next time you discredit somebody for failing to accept that vaccines are toxic, for failing to accept that pharmaceutical companies make money from people being vaccinated. Are you criticizing someone for refusing to accept the truth? Do you live your life in 100% truth?  Are you an atheist pro-LGBTQ2+ vegan ? If not, you need to stop criticizing others for being blind to the truth. Your position has no truth to it at all. But at least it’s comfortable. And that’s what matters most.

"Policy of Truth" by Depeche Mode:

You had something to hide

Should have hidden it, shouldn't you?

Now you're not satisfied

With what you're being put through

It's just time to pay the price

For not listening to advice

And deciding in your youth

On the policy of truth

Things could be so different now

It used to be so civilised

You will always wonder how

It could have been if you'd only lied

It's too late to change events

It's time to face the consequence

For delivering the proof

In the policy of truth

Never again is what you swore

The time before

Never again is what you swore

The time before

Now you're standing there tongue-tied

You'd better learn your lesson well

Hide what you have to hide

And tell what you have to tell

You'll see your problems multiplied

If you continually decide

To faithfully pursue

The policy of truth

Never again is what you swore

The time before

Never again is what you swore

The time before

Never again is what you swore

The time before

Never again is what you swore

The time before

Never again is what you swore

The time before

Never again is what you swore

The time before

Never again is what you swore

The time before

Never again is what you swore

The time before
